When delivered the son uses the doll right away right at the doorstep.
At night the father takes the “doll” to satisfy his own needs and breaks it since it can only handle a few cm of length.
Further along the story line you see the dolls are actually modified huimans and there are some sorts of settlements of “broken dolls”.
